MIEN - MIIEN

MIEN’s sophomore album, MIIEN, set for release on April 18th, 2025, marks a bold evolution in the band's sonic journey. Building on the success of their 2018 debut, this album pushes the boundaries of psychedelia by embracing a deeper, more collaborative approach to music. It ventures into new, uncharted territories, elevating the group's alchemical approach to sound and reaffirming their position as pioneers in the genre. The album captures their growth as a band, incorporating both their shared history and an evolving creative process that makes MIIEN a thrilling new chapter in their musical story.

The origins of MIEN lie in a serendipitous meeting at SXSW in 2004, where Rishi Dhir (Elephant Stone) met Alex Maas (The Black Angels), followed by a collaboration with John Mark Lapham (The Earlies). This convergence of diverse musical backgrounds eventually led to the formation of MIEN, a band that blends elements from various genres to create a unique sound. Robb Kidd (Golden Dawn Arkestra) joined in 2018, completing the lineup. Their shared musical history and collaborative spirit are key to the band's creative output, allowing them to explore and fuse different styles seamlessly.

The recording of MIIEN took place across multiple locations, including Montreal, Abilene, and Austin, Texas. The album’s creative process was marked by a strong sense of collaboration, with members contributing individual sketches that were transformed into full compositions by John Mark Lapham’s production. Alex Maas’s haunting vocals add depth to the album, enhancing its darker, more experimental edge. *MIIEN* is a testament to the band’s collective vision, blending psychedelic elements from the '60s with modern innovations, resulting in a rich, experimental sound that highlights their creative synergy and deep connection as a band.
