Cosmic Room 99 - Cosmic Room 99

Cosmic Room 99 is a psych rock band formed in late 2022 in Treviso, Italy, consisting of Antonio Angeli (vocals/drums), Matteo Scarpa (vocals/bass), and Diego Menegaldo (vocals/guitar). All three members have experience in other projects, such as Kill Your Boyfriend and New Candys. The band's origins lie in the isolation of the COVID-19 lockdown, during which the members collaborated in a small home recording studio. This environment fostered creativity and allowed them to explore themes of disillusionment, societal issues, and the human condition while developing a sound rooted in a desire to return to live performances in gritty venues.

Cosmic Room 99’s music is shaped by a wide array of influences, including The Velvet Underground, Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd, The Beach Boys’ "Pet Sounds," The Jesus and Mary Chain, Joy Division, and Bauhaus, blending punk sensibilities with psychedelic and post-punk elements. Their debut album was recorded collaboratively at their home studio, with analog drums and vocals for added warmth, and mixed by producer Edoardo "Dodi" Pellizzari. The final mastering was done by Collin Jordan in Chicago, completing their unique sound. The band’s name, inspired by a documentary about a secret NATO plan, reflects their ethos of using art to improve the world.
