Hot on the heels of three incendiary rock’n’roll single releases which would have been a great fit on the original Nuggets collection, Jackie’s Man see's the band adding a glam element to their well honed, gritty rock'n'roll style. Morrissey takes lead vocals on this one, giving Lister a well-earned break following his vocal heroics on the bands previous releases. Not unlike Barât & Doherty, he provides the yin to Lister’s Yang. Both proving themselves to be exceptional frontmen, adding great intensity and unpredictability to their erratic live shows.
The song portrays the unpredictable and hedonistic lifestyle of streetwalker Jackie, and the man who is always there to pick up the pieces when the wheels inevitably fall off.
In short, this is is sleazy, good-time rock’n’roll the way nature intended.
The single comes accompanied with a video produced by Michael White who also took on that roll for their previous releases.
