New Candys - The Uncanny Extravaganza

 New Candys are set to make a striking comeback in 2025 with their highly anticipated fifth album, The Uncanny Extravaganza, released via Fuzz Club. This new record marks a bold evolution for the band, fusing their signature rock roots with electronic elements and innovative production by Maurizio Baggio (The Soft Moon, Boy Harsher). The result is a genre-blurring sonic experience, shifting between aggressive, gritty textures, synth-driven rhythms, and melancholic minimalism, making it their most adventurous work yet.

The album introduces a refreshed lineup, with core members Fernando Nuti (vocals, guitar, synth, programming) and Dario Lucchesi (bass, synth, programming), joined by Emanuele Zanardo (guitar, backing vocals) and Francesco Giacomin (drums, percussion, sampler). Following their 2021 album Vyvyd and extensive touring across North America and Europe, the band embraced a new creative process, utilizing home studios and remote collaboration. This approach allowed for greater experimentation, with Lucchesi’s shift from drums to bass bringing fresh electronic influences to the band’s evolving sound.

Lyrically and thematically, The Uncanny Extravaganza explores surreal, cryptic imagery, often drawing inspiration from water and its dreamlike, distorted qualities—an influence tied to the band’s proximity to Venice. The album also reflects a spirit of rebellion, shaped by the introspective aftermath of the pandemic. With a diverse range of tracks, from the raw energy of Regicide and Crime Wave to the cinematic, western-tinged Night Surfer and Wild Spaghetti West, New Candys push their sound into uncharted territory.
