The Laurels - Mesozoic (2011)

The Laurels are a band from Sydney, Australia who formed in 2006. Their debut EP, Mesozoic, was released in 2011, and the band toured extensively across the country while landing coveted support slots with the likes of Tame Impala, The Black Angels and Swervedriver. In 2012 the band signed with Rice Is Nice and recorded their debut full length album, Plains, with producer Liam Judson. Upon it's release the album was critically acclaimed and the band completed a tour of the US the following year after an invitation to join the lineup at Austin Psych Fest. The band spent 2014 writing new material and building their own studio, before beginning the experimental recording process that birthed their sophomore release, Sonicology. Upon release in 2016 the band then completed their most extensive national tour to date, with several more dream support slots with The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Dungen and Mark Lanegan. After a brief hiatus the Laurels have returned in 2019 with new singles Monkey On My Back and Sound System, tasters from their forthcoming third album produced by Lachlan Mitchell.
