Our debut album, "Nowhere," encapsulates our musical journey over the past few years. The writing and recording process began in an abandoned church in the Gold Coast Hinterland, Queensland, Australia, where we transformed the space into a temporary recording studio. During that week, we created and recorded about ten new tracks. These initial recordings traveled with us to Berlin, where they helped us secure a label, Anomic Records. As we immersed ourselves in Berlin's vibrant music scene, our sound and style evolved. This growth led us to revisit the studio, this time in a basement in eastern Berlin, to blend our newer material with the original tracks. The resulting album reflects both our early days and the transformation we experienced in Berlin, capturing the essence of our band's evolution.
The core theme of "Nowhere" is the bittersweet nature of growth and change, exploring the passage of time and the constant choice between fear and serenity in facing life's transience. This duality—life and death, happiness and sorrow, love and hate—forms the album's conceptual backbone. Musically, our sound is a blend of neo-psychedelic and post-punk rock, characterized by emotional dynamics that range from vulnerable and soft to intense and apocalyptic. The album features more synthesizers and hip-hop-inspired drum beats, marking a departure from our earlier '60s garage rock influences. Artists like Beak>, Slowdive, EXEC, A Place To Bury Strangers, and Dress Theque have subtly influenced our sound, guiding us towards a more modern musical direction.
