The follow-up to 2022' 'First Light' LP marks a new chapter, in terms of both sound and personnel, for the Berlin psych/post-punk band led by Icelandic musician and author Hakon Adalsteinsson. “After touring ‘First Light’ heavily and releasing our Fuzz Club Session LP last year – a career-spanning, retrospective document – this album feels like starting with a clean slate”, Haken says. Written and recorded in under two weeks, during a rare gap in his non-stop touring schedule as guitarist in The Brian Jonestown Massacre and new project Golden Hours at that time, ‘Most Perfect Solitude’ introduces a new Third Sound line-up: Hakon and long-time member Robin Hughes (Organ/Guitar) now joined by Frankie Broek (drums) and Wim Janssens (bass).</div><p></p><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RC_a8aeIDjY?si=xkjasTC8zeDs557k" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div>As well as the line-up changes, Hakon reflects, “There is a certain warmth to some of the songs that has not been there before, but they still flicker between light and shadows, kind of like a slow motion audio version of Brion Gysin‘s Dreamachine.” On the one hand, jangly ‘60s 12-strings and breezy melodies shine on tracks like ‘Another Time, Another Place’ and ‘On Returning’, undoubtedly The Third Sound at their most radiant. Yet the record is not without its darker, heavier moments either – see the scuzzy psych-rock drone ‘Veiled’ or soon-to-be live favourite ‘Wasteland’, which sets a nightmarish vision of a city in ruins to the tune of heavy fuzz-guitar repetition and hypnotic drums.</div><div><br /></div><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ulv4JvqNoSA?si=S47WJ_cVyFJlWmTI" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div>The album’s title is a phrase lifted from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and found by way of Werner Herzog’s journal writings in ‘Of Walking In Ice’, documenting the film-makers walk from Munich to Paris, which Hakon was reading whilst on the road himself: “Many of the songs touched on the theme of trips or some sort of travel, so I knew immediately that it was going to be the title. When you are travelling or touring you can find yourself in a weird sort of isolation, whilst also often looking for solitude to get away from everything. And, sometimes, it is best to listen to music in that most perfect solitude.”</div><div><br /></div><div><a href="https://fuzzclub.com/collections/the-third-sound/products/the-third-sound-most-perfect-solitude" target="_blank">Fuzz Club</a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><iframe seamless="" src="https://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/album=2263407650/size=large/bgcol=ffffff/linkcol=333333/tracklist=false/artwork=small/transparent=true/" style="border: 0; height: 120px; width: 100%;"><a href="https://thethirdsound2.bandcamp.com/album/most-perfect-solitude">Most Perfect Solitude by The Third Sound</a></iframe><br /></div><div><br /></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8123798011718566648.post-69198813327125543312024-03-26T11:53:00.003+00:002024-03-26T13:58:25.960+00:00The Janitors - An Error Has Occurred<p style="text-align: center;"></p><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit5HOnLCeCYJY-abvdUXttlT-isKa0DKi80aRuy3VUu9FMa19wCY9BJbAKmyMKDa9h5o4weY2EAO6y0Hoikx2z49m1Mlfz2Bs7WL1uXMDSJ4WewXlVVJPuIezZNAoJ5rjoKidbwQMChN5yt-yx7rPy1ennrlhJT-loNEDUn7_Wgg4TNsWnGfo8a5RCfZk/s1200/The%20Janitors.jpg"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit5HOnLCeCYJY-abvdUXttlT-isKa0DKi80aRuy3VUu9FMa19wCY9BJbAKmyMKDa9h5o4weY2EAO6y0Hoikx2z49m1Mlfz2Bs7WL1uXMDSJ4WewXlVVJPuIezZNAoJ5rjoKidbwQMChN5yt-yx7rPy1ennrlhJT-loNEDUn7_Wgg4TNsWnGfo8a5RCfZk/w640-h640/The%20Janitors.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"> Marking over two decades of activity for the Swedish psych-rockers, the recording is informed by heartbreak and loss as well as the dismal state of the entire planet. For The Janitors, these two polarities intertwine constantly: “What’s personal is political and vice versa.”</div><p></p><p style="text-align: center;">To channel their frustration and anger, the band revived certain songs they’d shelved during the pandemic when working on the acclaimed Noisolation Sessions. They added others, written since, that suited the mood of sticking a middle finger up to the oppressive world around us.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Whereas previous recordings were often layered up gradually, this time the full band (Henric Herlenius, Jonas Eriksson, Anders Thorell and Wilhelm Tengdahl) rehearsed intensely together before laying down everything live, over two days and nights, in a converted missionary church.</p><p style="text-align: center;">The songs on Side A have the menace of Melvins, the swagger of The Stooges and the cosmic heft of The Heads. These are the more simply constructed and poppier pieces... or so the band believe. (One friend of theirs did consider this “delusional”.)</p><p style="text-align: center;"><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/cUbk1Y0inuE?si=hAxTXNMc-NU-Mgo2" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe><br /></p><p style="text-align: center;">‘In A Bliss’ acts as the album’s radiant centrepiece. A palette-cleansing love song which recalls The Jesus And Mary Chain at their most starry eyed, it finds The Janitors searching for solace and strength in straightforward companionship.</p><p style="text-align: center;">After this come the dronier numbers, drawn out with soundscapes and textures influenced by The Velvet Underground’s sonic experiments and the equally immersive atmospheres of electronic acts like Massive Attack. Hence, ‘Operator’ swings threateningly like a space-rock Swans, while the approach on ‘Farewell Spacegirl’ is jazzier and more meditative.</p><p style="text-align: center;">“It can be hard to muster up some, or even any, positive energy at this point in time,” says Henric. “We are eternally grateful to have the creative output that this constellation gives us. Neither me or Jonas would probably be here, or be the same people we are, if it wasn’t for The Janitors. We’ll leave you with a quote from an old anarchist: ‘Every society gets the criminals it deserves.’</p><p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://rocketrecordings.bandcamp.com/" target="_blank">Rocket Recordings</a></p><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe seamless="" src="https://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/album=3615516543/size=large/bgcol=ffffff/linkcol=333333/tracklist=false/artwork=small/transparent=true/" style="border: 0; height: 120px; width: 100%;"><a href="https://thejanitors.bandcamp.com/album/an-error-has-occurred">An Error Has Occurred de The Janitors</a></iframe><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8123798011718566648.post-16511591334092884482024-03-25T21:15:00.002+00:002024-03-25T21:15:46.362+00:00The Oscillation - The Start Of The End<p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7Gx_Eu0PXiNgvuuY417grCUr8bfsn_UVYlyI5HzgMoJPuNa5sEnOjGbcHeW09rT_EYoKpZ2LnfEYu67aPhTk65dgFxaXsQBujG3trCD77EtU80t4zAKLH3v5NhUSHsjucJka7dJtVUhKxlKT20IXJTEUvFV7G_ZKxGQHYZugNW5JfGjs3J9Tdnta86S8/s1200/The%20Oscillation.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7Gx_Eu0PXiNgvuuY417grCUr8bfsn_UVYlyI5HzgMoJPuNa5sEnOjGbcHeW09rT_EYoKpZ2LnfEYu67aPhTk65dgFxaXsQBujG3trCD77EtU80t4zAKLH3v5NhUSHsjucJka7dJtVUhKxlKT20IXJTEUvFV7G_ZKxGQHYZugNW5JfGjs3J9Tdnta86S8/w640-h640/The%20Oscillation.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"> Following their introspective Singularity Zone series, The Oscillation has returned with renewed purpose, delivering The Start Of The End, an album that illuminates themes of hope and renewal with a newfound depth of light and shade. Embracing introspection and positivity, Castellanos crafted the album as a beacon of change, drawing inspiration from personal reflection and a desire for collective renewal. The result is a diverse sonic landscape, from the celestial grandeur of the title track to the pulsating grooves of 'Faraway' and 'Body Electric,' all culminating in the ethereal closure of 'Sovereign.' What emerged is a record that finds one of the UK’s most influential groups embracing a productive second chapter, their maelstrom of melody, feedback and controlled chaos now informed more audibly by their love for Suicide and Kraftwerk and a fresh appreciation of the less disciplined attitudes found in jazz.</div><p></p><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/x3_NOCiRbII?si=cPEUO4vciW5IAq2v" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Jim Reid says, “But don’t expect ‘the Mary Chain goes jazz.’ People should expect a Jesus and Mary Chain record, and that’s certainly what ‘Glasgow Eyes’ is. There are no rules, you just do whatever it takes. And there’s a telepathy there - we are those weird not-quite twins that finish each other’s sentences.” ‘Glasgow Eyes’ not only extends The Jesus and Mary Chain's story, but feels simultaneously like a return to roots. Since forming nearly a decade ago, they’ve self-produced dizzying, otherworldly music that’s connected with fellow travelers in the hallucinogenic world of outré rock music. Led by singer and guitarist Julian Porte along with founding members Gabriel Fernandez (lead guitar) and Johnathan Martin (percussion), the band has enchanted live audiences at Desert Daze and on tour with like-minded groups Post Animal and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets. </p><p style="text-align: center;"><iframe allow="autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="152" loading="lazy" src="https://open.spotify.com/embed/album/4nt7pcSVAS46Qw5kXaqiQo?utm_source=generator&theme=0" style="border-radius: 12px;" width="100%"></iframe></p><p style="text-align: center;">The band’s vivid sound has found them placed on popular playlists like Modern Psychedelia and the legendary superproducer’s Danger Mouse Jukebox. Their 2015 debut, “Friends,” has surpassed 18 million streams. Joined by new member Kevin Perez (bass) in 2021, Levitation Room have continued to expand their colorful, unearthly sound, a process that has culminated with the vibrant new album Strange Weather. Collaborating with former Brian Jonestown Massacre keyboardist Rob Campanella, Jason Kick (Mild High Club), and Black Crowes’ Joel Robinow, Levitation Room take a new step in their story and vision with Strange Weather. The record’s lyrical narratives—about love in the park, life in the city, and the fact that “The world today is such an illusion”—are appropriately steeped in ’60s sonics and a dreamy, lo-fi atmosphere. It’s spacey, celestial guitar music for escaping into, and “it feels just like heaven.”</p><div style="text-align: center;">'Strange Weather' will be released February 16, 2024</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div><a href="https://shop.greenwayrecords.com/collections/frontpage/products/levitation-room-strange-weather" target="_blank">Greenway Records</a> | <a href="https://levitation.fm/collections/vinyl" target="_blank">Reverberation Appreciation Society</a> | </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8123798011718566648.post-46798074049551593382024-01-18T17:44:00.000+00:002024-01-18T17:44:32.058+00:00Hot Garbage - Precious Dream<p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXD1yzG2lXQpwNClCFxJgSKkJpee2n5Xmt3Y6GyIc19bUV2KyFD3mgDMIfYOElyrc-kcc3ohhRpQ306AvHfJLxo55l1PKMsljUBTyNE84Lw3P2_yB7Nu0TpI0HGPsXPjq3B0wqVe4DD4E3G0M4z0wtDIlZfq48OAuR08_VfDSIwjwrHn1i6BL0LBolnIs/s1080/Hot%20Garbage.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXD1yzG2lXQpwNClCFxJgSKkJpee2n5Xmt3Y6GyIc19bUV2KyFD3mgDMIfYOElyrc-kcc3ohhRpQ306AvHfJLxo55l1PKMsljUBTyNE84Lw3P2_yB7Nu0TpI0HGPsXPjq3B0wqVe4DD4E3G0M4z0wtDIlZfq48OAuR08_VfDSIwjwrHn1i6BL0LBolnIs/w640-h640/Hot%20Garbage.png" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Though Toronto rockers Hot Garbage’s signature tinge of moody, heavy psychedelia remains present on Precious Dream, their forthcoming sophomore album careens at high speeds into a darker world of searing post-punk riffs, grappling with themes of dread, loss, the resilience of the human spirit and the highs and lows of solitude. From the onset, elegant yet brutalist sonic architectures provide the scenery for an escape route, while Alex and Juliana Carlevaris as well as Dylan Gamble’s cryptic poetic spurts act as surreal signage. Fans of Sonic Youth, Frankie and the Witch Fingers or Joy Division should welcome a confused stroll down this romantic if dystopian opus, for a cathartic and tender sense of resolution awaits. The long-awaited follow-up to 2018’s ‘Babble’ and 2020’s ‘All Together Now’, it’s a record that finds Beans frontman (and The Murlocs drummer) Matt Blach putting percussion at centre-stage. “I’ve always wanted to make a drum-based album, dedicated around the beat first and then everything else follows”, Blach says, explaining his desire to explore “different production approaches, like hip-hop and crunched drums, and show an admiration and appreciation for the likes of The Meters, Wu-Tang and James Brown” as much as the acid-soaked 60s/70s rock you’d expect.</div><p></p><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hr-OJA9ZJHk?si=u16tfQ139xtoRdQJ" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div>What emerges from the beat-first approach on ‘Boots N Cats’ charts mutant garage-rock boogies ('Groove', 'Silhouette') and festival tent psychedelia ('Haunted', 'Dreaming Daisy'), by way of blissed-out funk instrumentals ('One To Four', 'Siamese Blundstone'). The line is constantly skirted between a loose, carefree vibe and interesting, meticulous musicianship – never falling into the trap of taking itself too seriously. It’s a sunny kaleidoscope of chugging guitars, driving bass-lines, soaring organs and warm, echo-soaked vocals – driven always by the tightly-wound rhythms and grooves that Blach has been in pursuit of since he was a kid: “The title of the album comes from me learning drums from my dad. He had a background of German heritage and during lessons would jokingly say ‘nein, boot’n’cats’n’ like a simple 1,2,3,4.” </div><div><br /></div><div><a href="https://fuzzclub.com/products/beans-boots-n-cats" target="_blank">Fuzz Club</a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><iframe seamless="" src="https://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/album=3069476697/size=large/bgcol=ffffff/linkcol=333333/tracklist=false/artwork=small/transparent=true/" style="border: 0; height: 120px; width: 100%;"><a href="https://beansband.bandcamp.com/album/boots-n-cats">Boots N Cats by Beans</a></iframe></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8123798011718566648.post-17648255926011732662024-01-05T20:29:00.007+00:002024-01-05T20:29:38.022+00:00Black Market Karma - An Introduction To Black Market Karma And Their Technicolour Liquid Audio Machine<p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimUPANv4Y07EqlaFk8MQXHds_m6pSZQxeS8YD-Aa4R-5bJb-VqXY6jRvvZhCOTeduyoCI2JBqHKPtCmGgUc-5upyA7nQlt2pv5gz66YnR6XhHGg5hEoxKEHEMLRC4MhyZ-rcs__aEbok5XAuS8OKA8vVdN1QPhPH9HRqWlvnmEtH5YBiXe8LE_kQG1N9M/s1200/by%20Black%20Market%20Karma.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimUPANv4Y07EqlaFk8MQXHds_m6pSZQxeS8YD-Aa4R-5bJb-VqXY6jRvvZhCOTeduyoCI2JBqHKPtCmGgUc-5upyA7nQlt2pv5gz66YnR6XhHGg5hEoxKEHEMLRC4MhyZ-rcs__aEbok5XAuS8OKA8vVdN1QPhPH9HRqWlvnmEtH5YBiXe8LE_kQG1N9M/w640-h640/by%20Black%20Market%20Karma.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"> A retrospective collection of songs spanning Black Market Karma’s back catalogue. If that sounds overwhelming, trust that this Toulouse trio have you in good hands. Their third full-length feels massive and oceanic, merging the furious intensity of metal and the wigged-out guitar heroics of psych rock with post-rock’s epic sense of scale. ILION is the kind of music where you listen to it and think to yourself, “This came from only three people?” It sure did, and SLIFT’s utter ferocity is way more than a tempest in a teacup. It reaches outwards for miles and creates new zeniths within unforeseen horizons of rock.</div><p></p><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">SLIFT is made up of brothers Jean and Remí Fossat and Canek Flores, who first met the brothers Fossat at (of all things) school. After the band formally came together in 2016, they quickly made their 2017 debut EP, Space Is the Key, which merged stoner rock’s heaviness with the sugar-rush qualities of garage rock. From there, things only got weirder: The trio experimented with faster tempos and bongos(!) on the following year’s full-length La Planeté Inexploreé, and in 2019, their KEXP session recorded at the Trans Musicales festival in Rennes became a viral sensation, racking up more than 1.4 million YouTube views.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">UMMON from 2020 represented SLIFT’s pivot towards the celestially crushing confines of psych-metal, marked by Remí’s rolling basslines and Flores’s relentless skin-pounding. But nothing in their already-estimable catalog could prepare you for ILION, a huge-sounding and melodically dense record that at once recalls Godspeed! You Black Emperor’s perpetually uplifting surge, the passionate burn of post-hardcore legends …And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead, Led Zep’s psychotic blues-rock mysticism, and the psychedelic swirl of Swedish experimental greats Goat. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3eTkcdBTL-k?si=uU4gLjoJQwk7lreE" title="YouTube video player" width="560"></iframe></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">But reducing ILION to a list of reference points would be missing the point—specifically, that you really have to sit down and experience this thing and let it take over your ear space. The record marks the band’s second Sub Pop release, following last year’s Singles Club 7” release of “Unseen” b/w “The Real Unseen,” which were outtakes from the UMMON sessions and offered a mere taste of the pure expansiveness on display here. Over eight tracks and 75+ minutes, SLIFT unleash the fury with walls of guitar and multi-part song structures that make you feel as if you’re being taken on a true journey—from the pure oblivion of ILION’s title track and the stretched-out abandon of centerpiece “Weavers’ Weft” to the intense climax of the 12-and-a-half-minute epic “The Story That Has Never Been Told.”</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">But what is this journey? To hear SLIFT tell it, Joseph Campbell would be proud of the thematic path laid out before the listeners on ILION, which is named after the Ancient Greek word for the city of Troy and, conceptually speaking, picks up where UMMON left off: “This is an album constructed in the manner of a Homeric story,” the band explains. “Where the two records differ is that ILION is about human emotions and feelings, whereas UMMON was telling an epic story with a distant view. ILION represents the fall of humanity and the rebirth of all things in time and space.”</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Heavy shit, to be sure—but fear not, because you don’t need a 12-sided die and a copy of The Odyssey to get what SLIFT are dishing out on ILION. All you need are two ears, an open mind, and the willingness to be truly blown away.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://music.subpop.com/slift_ilion" target="_blank"> Sub Pop Records</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe seamless="" src="https://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/album=1225258679/size=large/bgcol=ffffff/linkcol=333333/tracklist=false/artwork=small/transparent=true/" style="border: 0; height: 120px; width: 100%;"><a href="https://slift.bandcamp.com/album/ilion">ILION by SLIFT</a></iframe><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8123798011718566648.post-75809724280702843482023-12-22T08:26:00.003+00:002023-12-22T08:26:34.536+00:00Ancient River - Green Guitars<p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIH5O4XFWlXe3et4Bu6_GzJ8gHJGna6wNIPfhIn3shgv6cqHm3cW4Jm_bqjGF3t6UN6XFwV2MIgPpsmwBJD4VudAAw4e7Q_XydOd6Vac9xoTQP37KLU4Xd5qfntuwOzsx4ia4F8gMtVjhgSav5BrWR_wtD_xu3ubUDLIiX0ymXLJJonT2oIZvWJl63L60/s1200/Ancient%20River.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIH5O4XFWlXe3et4Bu6_GzJ8gHJGna6wNIPfhIn3shgv6cqHm3cW4Jm_bqjGF3t6UN6XFwV2MIgPpsmwBJD4VudAAw4e7Q_XydOd6Vac9xoTQP37KLU4Xd5qfntuwOzsx4ia4F8gMtVjhgSav5BrWR_wtD_xu3ubUDLIiX0ymXLJJonT2oIZvWJl63L60/w640-h640/Ancient%20River.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"> Ancient River, led by singer/songwriter Jaime Barreto, is a dynamic blend of rock, psychedelia, and Americana. The group are currently gearing up to release their highly anticipated second album, Pastoral Light, on February 2nd via FatCat Records. This album showcases the band's ability to meld diverse creative inspirations into a seamless and experimental sonic journey, transcending genres and defying conventions.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Den Der Hale was formed in 2019 by Pontus Lindskogen (guitar, vocals), Max Bredberg (guitar), Axel Nelson (drums), Mimosa Baker (synth, vocals), and Ejner Trenter (bass). Operating from various rehearsal spaces in Malmö, the band quickly gained recognition in Scandinavia with a series of singles, followed by their debut album, Harsyra, in 2021.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Their unique fusion of folk-inspired kraut, gritty psych, and post-rock led to the band’s creation of the term "post-psych" which perfectly encapsulates their distinctive sound. Itinerant rhythms and atonal melodies are filtered through heavy effects, harsh layers of noise are contrasted by animate bass lines and propulsive percussions. In this seemingly chaotic amalgam, there is always a red line, and often each musical output becomes a synthesis, a whole.</p><p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://store.fatcat.online/release/422863-den-der-hale-pastoral-light" target="_blank">FatCat Records</a> </p><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe seamless="" src="https://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/album=1476415313/size=large/bgcol=333333/linkcol=ffffff/tracklist=false/artwork=small/transparent=true/" style="border: 0; height: 120px; width: 100%;"><a href="https://denderhale.bandcamp.com/album/pastoral-light">Pastoral Light by Den Der Hale</a></iframe></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8123798011718566648.post-73354704469112244132023-12-15T22:29:00.006+00:002023-12-28T11:07:08.423+00:00Cosmic Shadows - Cosmic Shadows<p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNAhdzwkhIMNycUVDWkeAVc7GmfZvK2sYLeZECOatBgMrat7Cz9fLeq0h-nQLppSBtiPWczRrkoPWP98m3M8NgkNT63Vlmz1zLHhXdVfL3kutlM2m4-5PNBX_bMRD7fQlrN-Z4noG2dYDMD1o6__l1yHQblfgoNbLzhEfoCAI5aV_baHX9BWCFtIV_eHk/s1200/Cosmic%20Shadows.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNAhdzwkhIMNycUVDWkeAVc7GmfZvK2sYLeZECOatBgMrat7Cz9fLeq0h-nQLppSBtiPWczRrkoPWP98m3M8NgkNT63Vlmz1zLHhXdVfL3kutlM2m4-5PNBX_bMRD7fQlrN-Z4noG2dYDMD1o6__l1yHQblfgoNbLzhEfoCAI5aV_baHX9BWCFtIV_eHk/w640-h640/Cosmic%20Shadows.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"> It would seem that, after millennia, the insidious songs of sirens are still being raised: Athenians Cosmic Shadows, with their eponymous debut album, weave an inextricable Ariadne's thread. Intersidereal, kaleidoscopic guitars beckon us into daydreams, but collide with fuzz, biting bass and vocals that are at once stoic, caustic and plaintive. Recorded at a packed-out Paper Dress Vintage in London, it's a discography-spanning set that sees the band storm through tracks from their highly-praised 2023 album 'God Intentions' (which they were touring in support of at the time), as well as 2020's 'This Can Only Lead To Chaos' and their 2017 self-titled debut.</div><p></p><p style="text-align: center;">Talking about the album, vocalist/guitarist John-Paul Hughes recalls: "We played a sold-out Paper Dress Vintage in Hackney, London, on Sunday 30th July 2023, as the last date on our summer UK tour. Helicon is a band built on live performance and musicianship, not fancy studio production tricks. We recorded our Fuzz Club Live Session back in 2020 but to capture the power and energy of a Helicon live show in front of an audience is a buzz. This setlist has songs from all 3 studio albums released on Fuzz Club, so it's a nice way to tie that period of work together."</p><p style="text-align: center;"><iframe seamless="" src="https://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/album=215920168/size=large/bgcol=ffffff/linkcol=333333/tracklist=false/artwork=small/transparent=true/" style="border: 0; height: 120px; width: 100%;"><a href="https://heliconglasgow.bandcamp.com/album/live-in-london">Live In London by Helicon</a></iframe><br /></p>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8123798011718566648.post-33351480147779533532023-12-06T04:02:00.004+00:002023-12-12T05:12:38.874+00:00Levitation Sessions by Goat<p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtIpHpqRC116VbQBVnBJoX8qQwZoST6GbT0FJbqtBVJwbKQ5Spqvj0HrPQZWadbmSiKrkxc1rsazIGnMQAP0k5hGmNDh-ugWrqLcuLt0pt-TkYLFKlc-XqwphxgYsJZPrsSFksoyqRJKDXbv3YWD6pe89UFmwPEFxQ9OtawqTwr9I_WcDnM3vCWbt13hc/s1203/Levitation%20Sessions%20by%20Goat.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1203" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtIpHpqRC116VbQBVnBJoX8qQwZoST6GbT0FJbqtBVJwbKQ5Spqvj0HrPQZWadbmSiKrkxc1rsazIGnMQAP0k5hGmNDh-ugWrqLcuLt0pt-TkYLFKlc-XqwphxgYsJZPrsSFksoyqRJKDXbv3YWD6pe89UFmwPEFxQ9OtawqTwr9I_WcDnM3vCWbt13hc/w638-h640/Levitation%20Sessions%20by%20Goat.jpeg" width="638" /></a></div><p style="text-align: center;">Levitation Sessions return with a live performance film and album from GOAT! Despite their cryptic and secretive lifestyle, the mysterious Swedish collective have been at the forefront of modern psych, and this live release follows a decade of cult-classic LPs - each a timeless entry into the psych canon, a heady mix of world music, 60s fuzz, afrobeat and funk grooves and Swedish psychedelia, from their 2012 debut World Music, to their most recent 2023 release, Medicine. Their Levitation Session film and live album was recorded in the heart of winter in early 2023, capturing the alchemy of the band’s creative process and a glimpse of their legendary live show, filmed in the band’s studio headquarters.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RNMuGxuJuv0" width="320" youtube-src-id="RNMuGxuJuv0"></iframe></div><p style="text-align: center;">“We chose to record the session in our old temple during a cold night under a huge midnight sun in the darkest winter time. We thought it would bring out the best magic in us and we think it did. As the hours went by it started to loosen up and we went into some free form experiments with our electronics. In the end, this film became a perfect representation of what we do when we hang out “ </p><p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://levitation.fm/collections/levitation-sessions">LEVITATION</a></p><div style="text-align: center;"><br /><iframe seamless="" src="https://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/album=3275864191/size=large/bgcol=ffffff/linkcol=333333/tracklist=false/artwork=small/transparent=true/" style="border: 0; height: 120px; width: 100%;"><a href="https://goat.bandcamp.com/album/levitation-sessions">Levitation Sessions by Goat</a></iframe></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8123798011718566648.post-1365678625298690272023-12-03T12:33:00.002+00:002023-12-03T12:33:27.646+00:00Dim Electrics - Dim Electrics<p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-lvYrk0-fj_TCtyiKxqSBpbyAL57giRtkM9tVqXuxEBvScmlZOS04l08vagMf7K2_upF_OdnJCuLLFIi9_7X8y4dQYpRbS2KPMHuxTGcQVjIekg6a2ldoxzlfJ88Pl0mNXql8qlGMyxgao4cEVkpLo9lcUObjY8cf-NYFqCRQZs5CNgKQYv78-96gxfE/s1200/Dim%20Electrics.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-lvYrk0-fj_TCtyiKxqSBpbyAL57giRtkM9tVqXuxEBvScmlZOS04l08vagMf7K2_upF_OdnJCuLLFIi9_7X8y4dQYpRbS2KPMHuxTGcQVjIekg6a2ldoxzlfJ88Pl0mNXql8qlGMyxgao4cEVkpLo9lcUObjY8cf-NYFqCRQZs5CNgKQYv78-96gxfE/w640-h640/Dim%20Electrics.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"> Dim Electrics is an occasional music project based in Vienna, Austria, that began in 2014 to explore a long held interest in psychedelic guitar music.</div><p></p><p style="text-align: center;">Inspired in equal parts by Hawkwind, (early) Pink Floyd and Spacemen 3, Suicide, Can and Neu, Dim Electrics take elements of kraut, psych, drone and fuzz rock to create a mix of shorter songs and longer-form extended guitar workouts.</p><p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.sulatron.com/xoshop/lng/en/dim-electrics-st-lp-dl.html" target="_blank">Sulatron Records</a></p><p style="text-align: center;"><br /><iframe seamless="" src="https://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/album=346596070/size=large/bgcol=ffffff/linkcol=333333/tracklist=false/artwork=small/transparent=true/" style="border: 0; height: 120px; width: 100%;"><a href="https://dimelectrics.bandcamp.com/album/dim-electrics">Dim Electrics by Dim Electrics</a></iframe></p>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8123798011718566648.post-81748162563218974092023-12-01T17:58:00.005+00:002023-12-15T17:59:44.888+00:00Schiguli - Lichtecho<p style="text-align: center;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU92t28OffYpKvur85MZFDYe-WznsYt1oogdRC53ez7880YIdL4K_40dCQtrJzPxVHWfe1Dfd576Ob8hCqheKv7dUQmc0MbNA_bY0TtCZS3nL2TOdF7OUyaw8KT3sXRkA0IQSOsjA3WJ_RdPo8LOnb9FIJk7iw_Hb1msmSzvoEu7r9ghaTbw_IMAFJiGM/s1200/Schiguli.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1196" data-original-width="1200" height="638" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU92t28OffYpKvur85MZFDYe-WznsYt1oogdRC53ez7880YIdL4K_40dCQtrJzPxVHWfe1Dfd576Ob8hCqheKv7dUQmc0MbNA_bY0TtCZS3nL2TOdF7OUyaw8KT3sXRkA0IQSOsjA3WJ_RdPo8LOnb9FIJk7iw_Hb1msmSzvoEu7r9ghaTbw_IMAFJiGM/w640-h638/Schiguli.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"> Since 2020, Berlin-based Schiguli has captivated audiences with a heavy psych-post rock soundscape, echoing the pulsating krautrock of yesteryear.
